How do deaths by tobacco use compare to other causes of death?
Tobacco use kills more people than any other single cause each year in the Unites States. This makes tobacco the single most preventable cause of death in our country.

Young people are warned of many causes of death, and are instructed to behave in ways to avoid AIDS, drunk driving, and are given resources to prevent suicide. Our hourglasses provide a graphic image of just how many more people are killed prematurely by tobacco than by any other cause they're routinely warned against.
